TOKYO DELVE'S SUSHI BAR

Business Description
History

Tokyo Delvefs is an existing Japanese restaurant located in the
North Hollywood Arts and Entertainment District (see appendix).
Delvefs project enterprises began in Tokyo, Japan in 1981.
It consisted in a Jazz club and a restaurant named AN-AN.
Mr. Yuichi Tani, Proprietary, booked live jazz music in his
restaurant and held jazz sessions after hours.
He, also promoted community events such as festivals and
a cross country bicycling tour to aid starving refugees in Africa
(see appendix-UNICEF).
Prior to this, Mr. Tani owned a jazz club and a barbershop in Hyogo, Japan.
The barbershop earned recognition in a contest in which he was
awarded first place in 1970 on a national level.
Mr. Tani opened the barbershop in 1968 and sold it in 1984.

In 1986, Delvefs relocated from Tokyo, Japan to North Hollywood, Ca.
Mr. Tani believed that his jazz house/sushi bar concept would be a success
in Southern California. North Hollywood proved to be a challenged.
This commercial corridor on Lankershim was deemed as an gUrban Blighth area.
Targeted by the Community Redevelopment Agency Los Angeles (CRA/La) and
the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI).
They are currently redeveloping the area.
In addition to this ongoing process, we suffered damages from
the Northridge Quake (repairs completed), we felt the effects of
the recession and have been subject to business interruption and
damages due to the MTA street closures (we are two blocks south of
the main redline station).
Despite these numerous obstacles, we have continued to grow year after year.
We are recognized by CRA, the North Hollywood/Universal City Chamber of
Commerce and by many of the small businesses in the community as an extension
to the area.

Present Day Delve's

Today, Tokyo Delvefs is known as a rock and roll sushi bar.
The sushi chefs and patrons sing, shout, and dance (in place) to taped music.
Computerized concert lights flash and flicker around the restaurant.
Games and contest, which involve customer participation,
creates a festive atmosphere, which is unique, fun filled, and exciting.
Delvefs ambience and atmosphere has been written about, aired on the radio,
and seen on television locally, nationally and in Austria, Australia, and Japan
(see appendix). We welcome the free media exposure.
However we do not advertise other that for charity (Police Memorial Foundation,
East Valley Little League sponsors, Japanese American Community Center, e.t.c.).

Our customers are our best advertisement.
We rely on them and their word of mouth to spread our reputation for us.
Decorations change according to seasons and activities.
We create a feeling of group participation that dissolves personal boundaries.
We entertain with themes that are original, innovative, exciting,
and fun so that we are always the talk of the town.

Delvefs strongly appeals to the entertainment, world and its stars.
Troy Aikman, Metallica, and Eddie Van Halen are but few notables whom
we have served on more than one occasion.
We are not overly priced but we are not inexpensive either.
We have learned that by offering top quality food and excellent services,
we can charge accordingly.
We are a gBona Fideh Japanese restaurant with a beer, wine hard liquor license.
There is a $12.00 food order minimum.
This eliminates those patrons who only wish to sit and drink.
These types of patrons result in lower turnover (profits) and
the problems associated with drunken customers.

Vision / Mission

Delvefs project enterprises came from humble beginnings but with true vision of grandeur.
The present measure of success can continue only with the addition of a second site.

Franchising or limited partnership may be an option for us in the near future.
We have received numerous request from potential buyers (including Hawaii, New York,
Australia, Holland and London) who are interested in owning a Delvefs.

While we continue to grow in a business sense,
we are also committed to our customers and our community.
We feel obligated to make our customers feel special and to
make an enjoyable experience from dining at Delvefs.
If we become involved with the community we can help create
a more positive atmosphere around us.
This approach makes business fun and profitable at the same time.
